Lofty Pursuits
Since 1993, Lofty Pursuits has been serving Tallahassee with it's collection
of cool toys and gifts that reflect the eclectic personality
of it's owner Gregory Cohen.
Gregory appreciates that toys are not just for kids. Don't
forget them, but also don't forget the rest of us. The magic
of finding something so well thought out, and the art that
can be found in something a simple as a wooden toy without
any moving parts, or a Pogo Stick that can send an adult five
feet into the air is what this store is about.
Lofty Pursuits and Gregory Cohen have a unique place in the
world of toys. We hosted here in Tallahassee one of the first
of the modern yo-yo contest, and this eventually lead to
Gregory becoming the chairman of the World Yo-Yo Contest that
is held every summer in Orlando. We still host the South East
Regional Yo-Yo contest in April here in Tallahassee. He has
also written books and articles on Unicycling, Juggling and
Yo-Yoing. He has received the Duncan Family Award for
Industry Excellence. In short he expects the best of the best
toys and Lofty Pursuits is recognized for it.
Unique Products
The connections we have have allowed us to get many products where we may be
the only retail store in the world that has them to offer. Examples include
Through Dough the training pizza from the US Pizza Team, The Sun Diabolos
from Singapore, many of our yo-yos and the Kendamas we get from Japan. Other
items are just hard to find, such as a good selection of Disc Golf equipment
and many of our board games. We track down the best of our youth that is not
easily available any more, such as the Snoopy Snow Cone Machine and we track
down the bizarre like our self shaking salt and pepper shakers.
The best toys in the world
This year, Lofty Pursuits has moved to a larger location, still at Lake
Ella. With this move, we have expanded our children's toy collection and we
are trying to concentrate on American Made, Fair Trade and Organic toys for
our kids. Check our line of Plan Toys, Tofu Bears and Wooden Letter blocks
when you are in our store.
Not only do we test every product ourself, but our children do too. Even
here, creativity abounds, like in the Rocking Horse we stock
made of organic wood that collapses flat for storage. Yup, a
rocking horse that does not have to remain a central piece of
furniture in your living room when not in use.
Commitment to play
Lofty Pursuits sponsors events year round, including the Tallahassee
Juggling Club, The Tallahassee Yo-Yo Club, The Seven Hills Hurlers (disc
golf club), the Tallahassee Dart League and many others. We also host yo-yo
contest and the second Wednesday of every month we hold a Game Night where
we feel "Art is Play". Enjoy drinks and a nice atmosphere and test out the
best board and card games in the world.

We can convert our 1000 square foot store, our front porch and the lawn in
front of our store into the perfect place for your party. Lofty pursuits
is perfect for your 10 year olds yo-yo birthday party to the unique place
to host your colleges for a special game night or unique fundraiser event. You

Outreach
We offer programs to public elementary schools from time to time. We can do
a first grade unit on wind and kites or an older program with yo-yos,
juggling or creative board games. We can also help you find Jugglers and

Infinite Illusions. Infinite Illusions is the worlds largest dealer of
Yo-Yos. Infinite Illusions also manufactures juggling equipment and many
parts and accessories for yo-yos and yo-yoing as well as carrying a full

although you may need to call ahead to make sure we bring it over from our
warehouse so it can be there when you are.
