The third annual Tallahassee City Wide yoyo contest is just around the corner on July 30th.
The Tallahassee City Wide yoyo Contest is a chance to see some of the best yoyo talent in the area. Both regional and local contestants will travel to compete in either the Trick Ladder or one or the freestyle Divisions 1A and Open.
Registration will open at 11am the trick ladder will start at 12:30pm and then freestyles at 1pm.
In the Trick Ladder each contestant will be asked by a judge to do the 25 tricks off of the trick list in descending order. Each contestant can miss one trick but must stop after the second missed trick the contestant that makes it the farthest down the trick list wins. The best part is that the trick ladder only costs $3
There will be two freestyle divisions 1A and Open. Both divisions will be one-minute freestyles set to the music of contestants choosing while the judges assigns positive points for properly executed tricks and negative points for any mistakes made. (Note contestants can be disqualified for inappropriate song lyrics.)
The 1A division uses a stile of yo-yoing where one yoyo is attached the dominant hand of the contestants. The contestants then do tricks where the yoyo stays at the end of the string and the yoyo is moved from one string position to another.
The Open division is open to any style of yo-yoing that is not 1A.
The most exciting thing about the freestyle divisions is that it only costs 5$ to compete in both 1A and Open.
