Trash Talk at Lofty Pursuits

When you've come into Lofty Pursuits you may have been hit with our huge selection of treats, our cool glassware we serve in, and our very nice hats (if I do say so myself.)
What you may have missed is what this means. We produce very little trash. Most ice cream stores produce huge amounts of trash. Cups and spoons get thrown out for every customer, and this really adds up. I know this, I worked at an ice cream store back in the mid 1980's when I was in high school. I remember hauling all that garbage out to the dumpster.
Thanks to our use of glassware and metal spoons, not only does the ice cream taste better,(just like wine does when served in glass,) but we produce very little waste.
So far we produce about one bag of garbage a day. Most of this is paper goods (napkins, straw rappers) and biodegradable things like coffee grounds and our wooden taster spoons. We manage to avoid all the bulky plastic cups that most places use.
Even if you get take out, you will find that most of our take out cups are biodegradable, even the plastic covers are made of corn plastic that can break down.
We also try to keep the waste down with the bulk food products we get. Our milk for instance comes from Ocheesee Dairy in Blountstown, where they deliver in returnable glass bottles. The glass helps this amazing milk taste better and keep longer, but it also lets us send back the bottles to be re-used again and again.
The next major shift will be to biodegradable straws. We finally have found one that we like that will work well with a milk shake. I hope to have those in sometime in the next month or so.
We hope to see you soon to try our ice cream in glass, and see how we keep down the amount of waste we produce.
Flavor update:
Pralines and cream has gone away for a little bit and Rum Raisin is in (My goodness this is good). Don't worry Pralines and Cream will be back soon enough.

Hank from Hank FM visits Lofty Pursuits

Hank just came by from Hank FM and enjoyed an egg cream at Lofty Pursuits. Looks like we will be the new sponsor of their doo-wop show on Sundae's on their oldies station WQTL-FM Q106.1 FM. Listen for us there.
In the mean time it's time to tell you about the Brooklyn egg cream. It contains neither egg nor cream. If there's no egg or cream in it, why s it called an egg cream? The original name was the French "chocolate et la Créme." which when said with a heavy Brooklyn accent becomes a "Chocolate egg cream". This is our signature drink and our favorite made from milk, seltzer, and U-bet Chocolate Syrup from Brooklyn. Come in and enjoy a real treat. A real egg cream. And you don't even have to go to Brooklyn to get it.

The Times they are a Changing ...

Just in time for the 3:30 Mommies get together here at Lofty Pursuits, we've installed our first baby changing table in our ladies room. Don't worry dads, we'll get one in the men's room soon enough, but for now, since our bathrooms are single occupancy, free free to treat the room with the changing table as a family rest room until we get the 2nd one. It'll be about a week until the liners and other things arrive, so you may want to bring your own pad.
We also now have a high chair and a booster seat for your use. We'll get more as needed.
See you at Lofty Pursuits.

Fridaes moment of ice cream Zen and weekend updates

This Saturday is full of fun at Lofty Pursuits. Open gaming all day (10am to 10pm), yo-yo club 1 to 3, and sometime around 1 or 2 we're going to make a kitchen sink for a photo shoot.
We also have the new cherry topping that we are making finalized, and it's available for sundaes or just as a topping. Come by and try it. Just try and keep your face from getting stuck in the bowl.
Ice Cream: Every last lick is good :)

Just a quick reminder, we're open until 10pm every day except Sundae, on Sundae we're open until 8pm. So come by after dinner, enjoy our treats, play a board game when you are here, or just enjoy our wifi.
We also make the best coffee, so it's a great place to study for those tests.
