As Uri has pointed out in another post, we now have Sprecher Cream Soda and Sprecher Raving Red in bottles at Lofty Pursuits. Sadly they don't fit in our vintage soda machine, so we keep them behind the counter. Be sure to ask for them.

The soda that shall not be named* is a surprise soda for a film release. It's a butter vanilla soda with a scoop of a special butter ice cream in it (Think Butter pecan without the pecans).

We got one tub of this ice cream custom made, so come in while it lasts. We're putting it out now. You know what to ask for :)

Open until 10pm.

Ice cream eating contest Sundae at 2pm.

See you at Lofty

It's been over three months, but we were finally able to get Sprechers Orange Dream soda back in stock. For those of you who do not remember it, it's an orange cream soda, and it makes a drink called the Orange Cow, where we float a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top to make a float that tastes like a creamsicle.

Open until 10pm, see you at Lofty.

A flow chart of how all soda fountain sodas inter-connect.

Greg had some fun, he created a soda fountain flow chart so you can see how sodas interconnect. There is a lot of history here, and it's interesting to see how sodas are subdivided by group.

Let us know if you like this.

See you at Lofty.

Lofty Cola now in the Pumps.

A few apologies first. First sorry for these quick updates, but lots is happening at Lofty Pursuits.
Second, a week or so ago I thought I had tracked down Coca-Cola syrup with cane sugar in it. Well ends up the folks I was working with were wrong. It actually had corn syrup in it.

That lead us back to our first idea. Just do what Pemberton did back in Atlanta over a hundred years ago, and make cola syrup from scratch. How hard could it be? We're talking about 1800's tech. The answer is harder than you think, but worth it. We've made the first batch of Lofty Cola syrup, our own cola. Look at the photo, notice how it is clear ... yup made with not only pure cane sugar, but no food coloring. While it may not have brown food coloring in it, it sure tastes like one of the best colas I've had. And it's made right here in Tallahassee at Lofty Pursuits.

Since we've made this test batch, We've been doing the Soda Jerk thing and adding all sorts of stuff to our cola, so ask for us to make it special for you if you want.

Lime cola, Cherry cola, Vanilla cola. You name it. And you know it's Lofty Cola. It has not turned brown. :)

P.S. Thank Wes if you like this. He did most of the hard work to make this happen.

P.P.S as long as we are talking about sodas, we got in Lingonberry syrup this week for you Scandinavian fans to make Ligonberry soda and sundaes.

I am just jumping up and down. It's been almost a year in the works and I have finally tracked down a regular supply of Cane Sugar based Coca-Cola syrup. It may be a month away from delivery, but if it actually does come, we'll be about the only place outside of the Coca-Cola museum that you can get the real-"real thing" hand mixed.

If you did not know, we already have Dublin Dr. Pepper. This comes from Dublin TX, and is the last location that still makes Dr. Pepper syrup with cane sugar. This lets us make hand made Dr. Peppers the right way, and we can also use this for a topping for our sundaes.

You know, cane sugar just tastes better in a soda.

Hank just came by from Hank FM and enjoyed an egg cream at Lofty Pursuits. Looks like we will be the new sponsor of their doo-wop show on Sundae's on their oldies station WQTL-FM Q106.1 FM. Listen for us there.

In the mean time it's time to tell you about the Brooklyn egg cream. It contains neither egg nor cream. If there's no egg or cream in it, why s it called an egg cream? The original name was the French "chocolate et la Créme." which when said with a heavy Brooklyn accent becomes a "Chocolate egg cream". This is our signature drink and our favorite made from milk, seltzer, and U-bet Chocolate Syrup from Brooklyn. Come in and enjoy a real treat. A real egg cream. And you don't even have to go to Brooklyn to get it.

Well someone did it, and we're glad. They went across Market Square to our friends at Market Square Liquors and bought a can of Murphy's Irish Stout.

Oh, you can see where this is leading.

A scoop of our Guinness flavored ice cream later, and the first Irish float is made at lofty. While we don't have the license to sell beer, we can still make a great float with it if it appears for us to work with.

I can almost see the expression on your face. You're now asking, why not Guinness? why Murphy's? The answer is in the beer. In our opinion, the more chocolaty flavor of the Murphy's blends better with the ice cream than the more iron flavored Guinness. If you disagree, have us use a Guinness, or a fine oatmeal stout. In any event the float above was yummy according to our customers (when we wear the white hat and we're on call, we can't drink) Keep in mind this is a late night thing to do, we are still a toy store. An unusual toy store.

Flavor updates:
Champagne sorbet is out of rotation for the moment, replaced by Strawberry Cheesecake.
